Laos is a hidden gem in Asia and is less frequently visited than its neighbour’s Thailand and Vietnam. The country is under developed and the capital city Vientiane is more like a large town and doesn’t have skyscrapers, yet. A recent high tech train line has opened up more opportunities to travel around the country quickly and safely. The nature and scenery in Laos is wonderful, with limestone cliffs, rivers and jungles. There are stunning sunsets along the Mekong from Pakse in the south to Luang Prabang in the north. And don’t forget Vang Vieng, the ultra laid back backpacker town.
