Mission Shaligram
A 21-Day River-Based Learning Expedition along the Kali Gandaki
September 2026
Mission Shaligram is a three-week river-based learning expedition along Nepal’s Kali Gandaki River, inviting participants to explore both the outer landscapes of the Himalayas and the inner landscapes of our relationship with the living Earth. Traveling through one of the world’s deepest valleys — from high Himalayan waters to forested plains — the journey combines immersive encounters with nature, local communities, and sacred landscapes through rafting, observation, reflection, and direct experience with the river and its ecosystems. Along the way, participants are invited not only to explore the land, but also to cultivate a deeper sense of connection, presence, and respect for the living world.
Journey Highlights
Mission Shaligram takes participants through the breathtaking Kali Gandaki Valley — from the high Himalayas to forested plains — following one of Nepal’s most sacred and ecologically significant rivers. Along the way, participants encounter ancient villages, dramatic mountain landscapes, and the revered Shaligram fossil stones found in the riverbed.
The journey combines trekking, river travel, reflection, and cultural immersion through a changing landscape shaped by the river over thousands of years.
The expedition includes:
• 2 days of orientation
• 6 days of trekking in the mountains of Upper Kali Gandaki
• 2 days in Pokhara for rest, integration, and preparation for the river journey
• 7 days along the mid-river region
• 3 days in the jungles of Lower Kali Gandaki
• 1 final day for reflection and integration
Rather than observing nature from a distance, participants move with the river itself — experiencing the landscapes, ecosystems, and communities of the Himalayas through direct experience and meaningful connection.
