Thailand is 60 days visa exempt in July 2026

Google AI Says Thailand Is 30 Days. Thailand Says Otherwise.

If you’ve searched Google recently for “Thailand 60 days or 30 days?”, you may have been surprised.

Google’s AI summaries often state that Thailand has already reduced its visa exemption to 30 days.

At the time of writing, that is not yet the case.

The Thai Cabinet has approved the change, but it does not become law until it is published in the Royal Gazette and the implementation period begins.

Why AI can get this wrong

Artificial intelligence is excellent at summarising information, but it sometimes struggles with legal status.

It may correctly identify that the government has approved a proposal while incorrectly presenting it as if it is already in force.

That’s exactly what happened with Thailand’s visa exemption announcement.

Many AI answers confidently tell travellers:

“Thailand has reduced visa-free stays to 30 days.”

The important words missing are:

“…once the new regulations are published in the Royal Gazette.”

That distinction matters.

Your passport stamp is what counts

Whatever an AI says, your permission to stay is determined by the immigration stamp placed in your passport when you enter Thailand.

If you receive a 60-day stamp, you are legally permitted to remain for that period.

If you eventually receive a 30-day stamp after the new rules come into force, then the 30-day limit applies.

Always trust your passport and official immigration regulations over AI-generated summaries.
